While this garden wasn't open last year, those of you who came may recognise the photo from our brochure. A pretty garden and special house that has been featured in country style, this property is a testament to the hard work and grit of country families. Everyone who's had an opportunity to visit Jodie's in the past has loved it, make time to drop in and have a wander round, have a chat with Jodie and her family. Jodie isn't the only gardener in the family, the kids pitch in and spend time creating and maintaining their lovely garden. Involving family is a wonderful idea, keeping generations together and encouraging younger gardeners to appreciate the joy of working with nature.
A garden for succulent lovers, hidden away in farming land north of Mt Bryan. Barrie and Carol have been gardening here since the early 1990's. Like most of us when we first come to the district, they had no idea how demanding the climate can be. So many losses, and so much money spent on supposedly hardy plants. Nursery people have no idea how cruel the winds can be, a combination of 45deg heat, and 90kph winds, spells sudden death for many plants, unless you hedge your garden, and pour the water on. Barrie was not to be defeated, so he turned to succulents, not all those will survive, but the hardy ones are thriving. Come along and see for yourself, during Open Gardens. Barrie will have plants for sale to raise money for the Kidney Foundation.
