Our aim is to have a Good Life in the country trying our hands at rural living with the aim of living off the land. We currently have a large veggie patch utilising both raised beds and in ground beds. We grow a variety of vegetables but only those that we actually eat so that we are not wasting anything we grow. Excess veggies are frozen for future use.
We also have an orchard with established almond, pear and apple trees. We have newly planted citrus trees which will take a while to establish themselves.
We are also trying our hand at raising seedlings in our home made hothouse so as to save money on plants. We try and save seeds from most vegetables and flowering plants so that we can be sure of their lineage.
We have chickens, ducks and bees to provide us with eggs and honey and sheep to keep the grass down. We plan to make more use of our back paddock and are looking at different options to grow and harvest.
We will be kept happily busy for many years to come.
