The pictures have been changed slightly, the middle one is 1904 and the third one is when the property was purchased. Top left is a glimpse of what you may see during open gardens weekend. This lovely historical property is lucky that Meredith has constructed such a pretty garden which is both practical and in keeping with the style of the house (editor's notes)
2 Queen Street, Burra was built about 1902, above is a picture of the garden about 1904, the house did not have a side verandah at that time. Although it is hard to prove it looks like the pear tree on the right of the picture below is the one above near the little girl.
I bought the property in June 2011, The photograph above was taken about that time.. Below is what the garden now looks like at its best photographed from the same location, lots of roses and iris which do very well here. I have tried to make the garden low maintenance and have used lots of straw mulch which really does keep down the weeds. One of my great pleasure is sitting on the verandah admiring the garden in the late afternoon.
